It is hard to believe that yoga was once a niche activity reserved for women and hippies. The fitness trend cycle is swift-moving and the ever-growing appeal of the warrior pose for men has meant that we now take pride in living in a yoga studio. Moreover, brands and studios are increasingly responding to this demand with high-quality, stylish yoga clothes and accessories for men.
Adrienne Everett (@hippiewhohustles), is a yoga teacher. Her passion for this pursuit has perfectly aligned with the seismic shift. She began her yoga practice nearly a decade ago to find purpose. As she grew her skills on mats, she was able to make the transition from her corporate job as a salesperson to commercialize her passion.
Yoga is a way to stay fit and enhance your sport. It’s been used by all levels, from weightlifters to footballers. Everett says that yoga is the main source of her physical exercise. «I have seen incredible results through my dedication to my practice including increased flexibility and muscle toning, as well as improved strength.»
Different yoga styles focus on different things. Power yoga emphasizes its physical benefits, while Hatha and Vinyasa are more concerned with mental well-being.
Everett says that yoga is a mind gym. «Yoga has helped me to recover my emotional strength, pick up the pieces and reaffirm my inner strength, so I can move forward in a positive, life-affirming manner. Yoga provides a place to connect with myself and I feel so connected that I want to share the benefits with the rest of the world. I’m determined to make yoga more accessible to everyone, regardless of their race, age, body type or cultural background.»
Everett says that he feels so fortunate to have practiced yoga in such amazing places around the globe, including at the beach in Brazil, a temple in Bali, and amongst the amazing digital backdrops at 180 Health Club, London. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to connect with my practice at a variety different settings and to be able to teach in some incredible settings such as London’s Saatchi Gallery. There are many options for accommodation, including the Only Palm Hotel in Dubai, Four Seasons Bali, and Iguazu Falls, Argentina. Yoga is a practice that you can do anywhere.
Although there is a slight imbalance in the number of yoga clothing brands that cater to men and women, most activewear brands have been focusing on offering a wide range of products for all yogis. Men don’t need any other accessories than a mat, towel, and yoga block. They only need to purchase yoga T-shirts or yoga pants that are lightweight and breathable. Below we have listed some of the top brands to consider, from Gymshark to Lululemon.
Lululemon is a yoga brand. It would be a disservice to call it that in 2022. Lululemon is a Canadian wellness brand based in British Columbia. It has become a lifestyle brand that goes beyond its trademarked sweat-wicking fabrics and patterned yoga leggings. Lululemon was founded in 1998 and has expanded its product line to include apparel suitable for running, lifting weights, swimming, and other activities. It has improved its yogi offerings for everyone, but especially for men, where it’s well-fitting tops and stretchy sweatpants are a staple in every boutique studio.
Nike’s yoga clothes, which incorporate the DRI-Fit tech of the sports giant into their free-moving, Swoosh-laden designs, get a huge tick from us. As with all its ranges, Nike Yoga is always evolving to incorporate the newest performance-optimising and sustainable materials, with both clothes and accessories incorporating recycled fabrics in regularly-updated on-trend colourways. Nike Training Club App offers yoga for all levels, and goes the extra mile to ensure you have the right gear.
Bamboo is an alternative to traditional fashion fabrics and is often used in activewear due to its natural softness, sweat-wicking abilities, and sustainability. Although you will see many activewear brands include bamboo in their product lines, none of them are showing the same dedication as Bam. The material is the star of every collection. Bam is committed to reducing fashion’s environmental impact by releasing new collections that are free of waste, pollution, and water waste. By 2030, Bam aims to have zero waste to landfill, zero polluting, and zero water wasted. We believe that Bam is a great option to include in your workout routine, as yogis tend to have similar fitness goals to those of the Earth.
Gymshark, the brand that makes activewear, is fast becoming a global phenomenon. Its snappy logo has become a staple on gym floors around the globe. Ben Francis, an entrepreneur and founder of the Solihul label, was able to raise over $1billion in just eight years. Although Gymshark was initially known for its heavy lifting and grueling, it has since expanded to include other disciplines, such as yoga, where its Studio line is the best. We love the brand’s flattering joggers, which are a staple of activewear. They also have seamless tank tops that allow for enough motion to switch from Warrior II into Crow in a split second.
Adidas, like Nike, has endless fingers in many sportswear pies. Adidas is a company that understands activewear. It offers a range of yoga-centric clothing, from joggers and jackets to vests and shorts to joggers to hoodies, all designed to keep you cool and allow for full movement, so you can nail the most difficult poses. The brand’s three-striped yoga gear is a great example of innovative function and unique design.
YogaMatters offers a wide range of yoga products, including mat-friendly apparel and literature. They also have essential oils and natural grooming products to suit the needs of its customers. This is a great place to start for accessories that will streamline and enhance your practice, such as mats, straps and blocks. There are many options online. The brand is loved by yoga instructors and studio owners around the world.
Alo started its journey in creating yoga clothing that was comfortable for both the mat and beyond. Its garments are designed for intense practice, but they can be easily incorporated into your everyday wardrobe. They also take on the latest trends in fashion and have captured the attention of celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Haid, and Taylor Swift. The Triumph collection is our favorite, made from super soft jersey and in flattering, but relaxed fits.
Warrior Addict, a yoga brand, brings a unique sense of masculinity into a traditionally female-centric pursuit. The brand’s apparel and accessories are monochromatic and feature simple logo detailing. They also have legging-lined, yoga-specific tech like elasticated waistbands that keep tops in place upsidedown and shorts with lining that serve the same purpose. Warrior Addict is a great option for activewear. The interesting cuts can double as streetwear. You’ll get more wear from your Warrior Addict than you do in studio.
