Since I have been living in New York City’s East Village for the past year and half, I have come to love my neighborhood. The area is full of great places to eat and fun places to go out for a night, but my favorite thing about it is seeing which trends my neighbors are following.
There is always something to inspire you, and my neighborhood is close enough to Soho and the Lower East Side. For research purposes, I went to my favorite coffee shop and ordered a cup. Then, I looked out the window at all the fashion-conscious people who passed by. I am sorry if you saw me staring at them. NYC has not seen an inch of snow yet. However, the snow boots are out and I respect that. According to my observations, puffer boot are the hottest winter shoe trend. The trend gained traction last winter but the warm, functional boot seems set to continue into 2023.
The Penny Lane coat became viral on TikTok. But it wasn’t until my walk from East Village to Soho when I realized the full extent of the trend. For those days when a puffer doesn’t seem necessary, the coat made famous by Kate Hudson is now the go-to outerwear choice for trendy Downtown residents.

I was at a By Far sample sales in Soho and noticed the number of fur-clad bucket caps that other shoppers were sporting. This trend is something I support wholeheartedly. It’s so cozy and chic.
