It seems like every celebrity and their mother has their own beauty brand. Rare Beauty liquid blush is a rare star that manages to break through the market. It’s not the only one: Selena Gomez launched her Rare Beauty makeup line in 2020. While it has received a lot of praise for its extensive range of products, none have achieved viral fame like the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush.
After seeing the blush appear on my TikTok account a few times, and, for what it is worth, still having not seen one negative review of it, I finally decided to buy it. The blush arrived on my doorstep after a week-long wait. I was eager to give it a try.
I am prone to apply blush too much, so I decided to do two dots on each cheek. Although the dots were tiny, I was surprised by how vibrant the pigment was. I had never considered too much blush before that moment. After seeing my clownish cheeks in the mirror I realized that I had not started more slowly and only one dot. It’s important to remember that a little bit goes a long ways.
Its light-weight liquid formula is also worth mentioning. It is vegan, cruelty-free, and free from parabens and sulfates. As someone who has suffered from sensitivity my entire life, I can assure you that this product didn’t irritate me.
Rare Beauty liquid blushes come in 11 shades, in matte or radiant finishes. They range from hot pink to red and beyond with names like Lucky and Faith. Believe is a deep mauve. I decided to go outside of my comfort zone. Although the shade is beautiful, it was a little too strong for my fair skin. Next time, I will probably try Hope (a lighter mauve), or Encourage (a soft neutral rose).
This blush is a standout from any powder compact, as the pigment stole all the attention, as I said earlier. It might be my most pigmented blush. The finish is also dewier and less cakey for me, which is a bonus. If you are new to liquid blush formulas I suggest applying it on your skin, then blending it with your fingers. As I discovered, swiping the product on with an applicator can result in too much color.
Another perk? The formula can be scaled up or down according to your preference. Note to self—Maybe less is more. But, I didn’t want the blush to go on my skin so I just applied the L’Oreal Glumi lotion over it and blended it with my fingertips. This is a layering technique that many TikTok users already use. What is the result? A natural, sun-kissed glow with just the right amount color.
It’s easy to see why the Rare Beauty blush is loved by every beauty editor and influencer. Sel, you did a great job.
