Since Prada inception over 100 years ago, the brand has created some of the most sought-after fashion pieces in the world. From humble leather goods to becoming one of the largest privately owned brands worldwide. The brand is now expanding their aesthetic with daring introductions to fine jewelry. ETERNAL GOLD is the brand’s first collection. It reflects both a commitment towards beauty and sustainable, circular fashion.
ETERNAL GOLD, Prada’s first ever fine jewelry collection, is an important first. It is also the first collection of fine jewelry entirely made from recycled gold. This collection was compiled using the most stringent standards in the industry, set by the Responsible Jewelry Council. Prada is the first company to offer diamond traceability. Every carat can be traced back to the source. Prada’s complete transparency in every aspect of their jewelry production, from cutting to setting to sourcing, is a significant step towards transparent production in an otherwise opaque industry.
This jewelry is a reflection on Prada’s influence in the industry as well as a continuation their efforts to create beautiful objects that stand the test of time, like all fine jewelry should. ETERNAL GOLD is full of Pradaisms. The instantly recognisable Prada triangle can be seen as earrings and pendants as well as in clasp closures and, more subtly in chain links, as the head or tail of the snake bracelet. Although the snake bracelet may look similar to other serpent bracelets it is unique thanks to its Prada triangle and unvarnished, smooth gold. The triangle chainlink that it is sat on gives heart pendants an elegant look.
Prada selected three of the most influential voices to wear this foundational collection. They represent where Prada stands now and where it is going. Amanda Gorman is an award-winning poet, activist, Maya Hawke is a singer/songwriter, actress and model. Somi Jeon is a musician. They have become one with gold through negative renderings of gold by David Sims. The campaign and the jewelry represent a future where we aren’t willing to sacrifice beauty and purity for our planet’s demise. All brands should strive to look good while doing good.
