Many style icons have been created by the Royal Family, including the Princess of Wales. Kate Middleton’s gowns have gained a huge following. Her sartorial choices are often sold out in hours.

Each member of the royal family is famous for their signature fashion styles. The Queen’s elegant skirt suits and Balmoral outfit (the latter has been a source of inspiration for designers) to Princess Diana and her many looks are just a few examples. One royal reigns supreme as the style icon of choice: The Princess Of Wales. Since Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding, which brought her to the limelight, interest in her fashion choices has increased. She has been a constant source of stylish looks since.

Miranda Holder , a royal fashion expert, summarized Catherine’s style. She said, «The Princess manages the tricky line between working Royal and all the associated sartorial Etiquette (with all its glamour), with grace and elegance.» The ‘Kate Silhouette» is what you see when you think about Kate. It features a slim waistline and fuller skirt that perfectly balances her wavy figure. This is Kate’s style uniform formula, which works well in her new role of Princess of Wales.

We love her off-duty jeans, best boots, and boots combination, but it is her dresses that we love the most. The Princess of Wales has a passion for British designer brands. She wore Alexander McQueen dresses and the Issa wrap that she wore to her engagement announcement. Her dresses are chic and feminine. Her enormous selling power, also known as «the Kate effect», means that she endorses any brand — high-end or low-end — and it is able to catapult into fashion consciousness creating sell-out styles.

BRANDS OF KATE MIDDLETON DRESSES

You may have wondered, «Where does Kate Middleton get her clothes?» Kate Middleton loves a variety of brands, including designer and straight-to-market brands. These are Kate Middleton’s favorite dress brands. We have looked-alike styles as well as our editors top picks.

1. ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

Although she is a strong supporter of affordable fashion, Kate has a selection of designer dresses for special occasions. Although some pieces are expensive, the Princess of Wales is known for wearing them. Alexander McQueen is one of Kate’s favourite labels. They are the creators of her famous wedding dress and many other of her most memorable dresses. This brand is a well-known British fashion brand that regularly appears on runways.

Look to the Princess of Wales for inspiration and find dresses you will love to wear again and again. McQueen’s ready to wear collection has a lot of flattering and feminine designs, including structured collars and waist-cinching styles. McQueen was actually worn by Kate to Princess Eugenie’s 2018 wedding to Jack Brooksbank, and the designer was also chosen to be the dress for Prince Louis’ christening.

Kate has worn Alexandra McQueen many times. She often recycles her gowns and wears them more than one time.

McQueen’s most memorable moment is the gorgeous ivory gown that she wore to her 2011 marriage to Prince William. It was designed by Sarah Burton, McQueen’s new creative director. The nine-foot-long, plunge-fronted lace gown sent shock waves down Westminster Abbey. It is undoubtedly the most famous of Kate Middleton’s dresses. McQueen is now the go-to designer for the royals.

Miranda Holder stated that «This design house represents the best British design and their razor-sharp tailoring are the talk of industry.» This brand was responsible for Kate’s fairytale bridal gown. It is also the ideal choice for Kate when she wants to dress smartly for formal events.

2. BEULAH LONDON

The Princess also supports sustainable fashion by recycling her clothes and supporting many ethical and sustainable clothing brands like Beulah London. This British-based brand was founded in 2009 and provides employment for vulnerable women. It also promotes sustainable handicrafts.

Beulah London’s collection of dresses is very similar to Kate’s style. It features feminine, ladylike styles with sweet pastel colors, puff sleeves and beautiful floral prints. However, the brand also offers clothes in darker, more industrial colours. This brand has a lot of beautiful midi dresses that can be worn up or down depending on the occasion.

Beulah London is a dress Kate wears often during her official royal duties. The Calla Rose floral silk dress in raspberry-red with contrast white collar was first worn by Kate during the Mental Health Minute television broadcast. In true Kate fashion, she confirmed her love for this dress when she wore it again on September 2020 during a day of royal duties, including a visit at the London Bridge Job Centre, Beigel Bake Brick Lane Bakery, and a visit to the London Bridge Job Centre.

She wore the blush pink Ahana dress by the brand to the Wimbledon Men’s Singles final in July 2021.

3. EMILIA WICKSTEAD

To the delight of fashion lovers, the Princess of Wales has introduced a few on-the-pulse designer to her wardrobe over the past few years. One of them is Emilia Wickstead. Although the British brand is based in London and is a regular at London Fashion Week, Emilia was born in New Zealand. She is a well-known designer for translating fashion trends into feminine silhouettes, romantic prints, or feminine color palettes.

Make sure you buy one item from a New Zealand designer. Kate prefers bright, vibrant dresses in sweet lavender and emerald. Kate prefers a well-tailored style with a fitted bodice, and an A line skirt.

The Princess, also known as the «Kate» dress, has worn three versions the brand’s long-sleeved wool dress in royal blue and forest green in May 2019, and lavender in November 2019.

Apart from the defining dress, she also wore many of the brand’s tailored looks while on official royal duties. This included at an Easter Sunday service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor and the National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, London. Although Kate has worn Wickstead’s dresses many times, Princess Kate also wore one the brand’s chic purple suits in September 2021 for a visit to the Ulster University Magee Campus, Derry, Northern Ireland.

4. EPONINE LONDON

Although Eponine London was founded in 2011, Catherine has only started to wear its designs since a few years back. She has worn Eponine coat-dress combinations and its dresses, as well as Eponine coats, on a regular basis since then. The British label is another fashion brand that has eco-credentials. It produces its designs in its London studio using vintage and locally-sourced wool. Unfortunately, the brand is not available for purchase in the United States.

Eponine London is well-known for its coat-dress combinations. Its small ready-to wear collection, which is stocked with wintery fabrics like wool and corduroy makes it ideal for the colder months. We love the classic coat-dress or color-block dress for winter.

The royal has worn Eponine London only a few times. She was most recently seen at Cardiff Castle, Wales, during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in July 2022. There, she wore a vibrant red coat-dress.

Kate has also worn Eponine’s designs at important diplomatic events. She wore one of the brand’s spring/summer 2021 collections in a blue coat dress to a COP26 dinner reception in Glasgow in November 2021. It wasn’t her first Eponine royal blue dress. Kate wore a similar dress from the brand in 2017 while visiting a Child Bereavement Centre (Stratford, London). This dress was then worn again by Kate in 2018, when she visited the McLaren Composites Technology Centre. Kate has worn the brand’s red and white tweed skirt suits twice.

5. JENNY PACKHAM

Jenny Packham, much like Alexander McQueen is a designer that the Princess of Wales returns to often for special occasions. Packham is known for designing some of the most popular wedding dresses and cocktail dresses. It’s not surprising that Kate chooses Packham to dress her for big galas or parties that require a glamorous look. The designer has also been responsible for some of Kate’s greatest red carpet moments.

Packham is known for creating stunning evening gowns that are truly spectacular. For the ultimate eye-catching outfit, think sparkly sequins and feathery details with tulle skirts. Miranda stated, «Loved and respected by stars and Royals around the world, Jenny Packham sets the standard for sparkles at the red carpet. While Jenny Packham is a British designer, she’s still the perfect choice when Kate wants to shine at high-profile events.»

Kate also wore a Jenny Packham more subtle piece. This was probably a custom-made item for her. Although there are many occasions, Kate’s last appearance in Jenny Packham was at a dinner hosted by Governor General of Jamaica at King’s House, Kingston. The stunning green gown was adorned with a tulle neckline, a sequinned body and was worn by the royal. The Princess of Wales accented this look by braiding her hair.

Kate trusts Packham to dress her for the most important occasions. She wore a Packham dress when she introduced her children to the world. In 2013, when Prince George was first introduced to the world, she wore a blue polka-dot dress by the designer. She walked out in 2015 with Princess Charlotte, a yellow floral Packham dress. For Prince Louis, it was a red knee-length with a Peter Pan collar.
