Hailee Steinfeld works on many things at the dsme time, including photo shoots and music videos. But, lately, one of her greatest tasks is to drink more water. Core Hydration’s partnership has made Hailee Steinfeld more conscious of her own hydration. The star spoke to us via Zoom about how her skin-care routine had changed and became all about hydration. You can take care from the inside out, but hydration is crucial.
Steinfeld believes that it is important to keep her skin hydrated when she travels. The 26-year old Steinfeld, like many others, has skin that reacts when she travels. She says, «The plane won’t even take off and my skin is already breaking out.»
Steinfeld tried a lot of products to find a way to calm her sensitive skin while on the move. She eventually settled on Mara Beauty’s Algae Enzyme Cleansing Oil, and Sea Silk Lip Balm as her top picks. She says that the cleansing oil is extremely hydrating and removes all my makeup, which is a true blessing. The cleanser and the lip balm both contain algae and moringa, which Ginger King, cosmetic chemist says is great for moisturizing and gentle cleansing.
Steinfeld isn’t stopping her quest for hydration. Her hair needs to be nourished is another thing she cares about. You can see many pictures of the actor with long, shiny brown hair on her Instagram. But what many people don’t realize is that her hair has been suffering from dryness and breakage since she bleached her hair this summer. «I swear by Olaplex Bond Maintenance shampoo, conditioner, and oil.» She says it has helped to maintain the shine and hydration.
Her music video for «Coast,» in which she captures a breezy, California-inspired vibe, was a major factor in her decision to lighten her hair color. She says her honey-blonde highlights are a result of her desire to enter a new genre of music. «I was excited by the idea of a little bit of change and it’s something I love.»
Steinfeld is encouraged to dream big about her hair because she knows that her hair is healthy. Steinfeld also collaborates with stylists to create trendy hairstyles, including a recent Y2K and mermaid wave look. Steinfeld claims this is her favorite. I loved the mermaid waves. She said that the texture was dense but still felt soft. Steinfeld is a fan of the updo, despite all the different styles she has tried. «Working with hair and makeup artists is one of my favorite parts of my job. I love the collaboration aspect of it.»
Although her glossy hair is the main focus of her Instagram photos and red-carpet appearances on the red carpet, you will notice that Steinfeld’s nails are flawlessly painted by Tom Bachik, her long-time friend and nail artist. They have been together since Steinfeld was 13 years old, and they still create bookmark-worthy manicures.
She recalls that there was one Met Gala when we did this nail, which was very long. They were so long that we had to do them the night before, which made the last few hours of the carpet extremely difficult. They were a beautiful mint green color and were decorated with candy wrappers, a kind of iridescent, crinkled material.
This is just a glimpse at the intricate nail designs Steinfeld and Bachik create together. Since that 2019 mani, they have experimented with various French manicure variations and press-ons. They also created a scaly, green mani to match her mermaid waves, which had an optical illusion element.
Steinfeld and my chat ended when we discussed TikTok, which is what most people use these days. While she hasn’t tried any of these latest beauty trends, Steinfeld is fascinated by the videos of people applying full-on skin-care regimens in mid-flight. She jokes that «that might be the solution to all of my problems.»
Although the actor may not be able to apply a facial mask on an airplane, she is open to trying it. She’s always on-the-go so there’s plenty of time for her to experiment with the trend. We hope she shares it on Instagram, or better yet TikTok.
