If you are a royal watcher, Christmas is always a significant day for the royals. They make the early morning walk to church and then greet well-wishers. This year will not be easy as Queen Elizabeth II is no longer with us. However, we can expect new traditions from the royal family. Apart from King Charles’s Christmas speech to the Commonwealth in 2021, I don’t think it would be surprising if the Prince and Princess Of Wales take part in a Christmas day walkabout with their children. We’ve seen Princess Charlotte and Prince George accompanying their parents before (the last time being in 2019), but not all three. It’s time to welcome Prince Louis…he has the Christmas spirit written all over.
This week is a great time to catch up on shows you haven’t seen yet and to watch movies you might have missed. The Kennedy Center Honors, Wednesday night in Washington, is a great place to start your week. The President, Vice President and their spouses are there, with this year’s honorees ranging from Gladys Knight to U2 to George Clooney. The evening offers a fascinating retrospective of each person’s life, and many A-list talents come out to share their stories.
The King’s Christmas Address (Britbox). King Charles III will deliver the first Christmas address in his reign. He will talk about Queen Elizabeth II’s passing and his hopes for the future. Call the Midwife Holiday Special (PBS). Midwives arrive at their maternity clinic in the midst of the Christmas holiday season and are thrilled to see a familiar face. After the train accident, Poplar’s life is back to normal. Everyone comes together for a Christmas talent show. 8 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT
Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical (Netflix): This charming film stars Alisa Weir as well as Emma Thompson. It tells the story about an extraordinary girl who has a vivid imagination and dares to make a difference in her life with amazing results.
Yellowjackets (Showtime). Today’s marathon will be the first season of the beloved and critically-acclaimed show. Season two will premiere in March. The thriller stars Melanie Lynskey and Juliette Lewis as well as Christina Ricci and Tawny Cyprus. It is set in 1996 and present and centers on a girl soccer team’s struggle to survive after a tragic plane crash in the wilderness. 12 p.m. ET/11:00 a.m. CT
The Year: 2022 (ABC). Robin Roberts, her ABC News colleagues including David Muir and Michael Strahan, George Stephanopoulos and Ginger Zee host the two-hour year end network special. This special revisits the top stories and entertainment trends of 2022. 9 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. CT

The 45th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, CBS/Paramount+: Amal’s husband George Clooney is this year’s honoree. pop singer-songwriter Amy Grant. Gladys Knight is a pop icon and a gospel, R&B, and soul singer. Cuban-born American composer and conductor Tania Leon. Tania Leon, a Cuban-American composer, conductor, and educator, is the legendary Irish rock band U2, which includes members Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton.
Wildcat (Prime Video). Last week’s documentary premiered in theaters. This week, it will be available on Prime Video. This must-see documentary features a British Army veteran, Harry, and Samantha, a Ph.D. candidate. They care for an orphaned baby wildcat ocelot to help him return to his natural habitat in Amazonia. This is a story about physical and mental survival and finding hope in the unexpected places.
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2023 ABC: This year’s iconic New Year’s Eve countdown has expanded to Disneyland. Ciara will be there to supervise the festivities at The Happiest Place on Earth (those segments have been pre-taped). Why this year? The event will be the kickoff of Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder Celebration. What better promotion than that? Ryan Seacrest will live from Times Square with Liza Koshy, his co-host. Aly &.
