Should we Keep Netflix or Churn?

It can be difficult to imagine a Netflix review. Netflix is one of the most popular streaming services. It moves at lightning speed in all directions at once, making it difficult to analyze. The next thing you know they have knives ready to make a purse-shaped cake. Now there is Netflix with ads.

Although it can be difficult to find titles from Netflix’s vast library, that is almost the charm of Netflix. Netflix has a lot of content that you can watch, but each month sees many movies and shows leave. Many people are wondering if they should cancel their Netflix subscriptions. But we always return to Netflix. This is called «churn» and it involves leaving Netflix when there is nothing to watch, then returning when you have your favorite shows.

Pricing and availability

The $19.99 Premium Netflix Tier is for those who wish to stream in 4K. It includes Ultra HD video quality, up to four streams, and two streaming options.

It’s a lot more expensive than the $9.99- $14.99 per monthly HBO Max or even cheaper services like Peacock Plus or Paramount Plus, but the library of Netflix makes it worth it. JustWatch claims that Netflix has more than 3,600 movies, and 1,800 TV shows.

Compare that to Disney Plus’ library with more than 740 movies, 280 TV shows, and HBO Max’s list of more than 2,000 movies and 580 programs, and you will see the value in the pricing.

HBO Max offers a greater variety of content but viewers still want to be able to view those shows in 4K. They will be happy to use another app to offer the same content.

However, simultaneous streams can only be used in one household. Netflix has announced that it is banning sharing accounts, which are a popular way to save money and one of our top Netflix tips. This could cause problems for streamers.

Design

Although the Netflix apps are the gold standard for streaming services, they have never been perfect. Netflix, for example, would automatically play audio if you hovered over a particular selection for too long. This was eventually fixed by providing settings.

Movies

While movies aren’t new, it feels like Netflix has discovered their true value over the past three years. We now have Oscar nominations for Netflix Originals like The Power of the Dog or Don’t Look Up. While more popular fare like Red Notice and The Old Guard are included in our top 10 list of action movies on Netflix.

Although there are some excellent horror movies on Netflix, it feels like this category is where Peacock, Shudder and HBO Max are consuming Netflix’s milkshake. Paramount Plus also has horror franchises, including Scream and Paranormal Activity. Netflix is the only one that can change.

Disney Plus streams the majority of Marvel movies in sequence, and Star Wars movies are also available. However, Netflix does not have a complete series of movies that can be viewed side-by-side. Netflix has a history of creating franchises through TV shows and its own Originals like Stranger Things or The Crown.

This is where we can see how other services struggle to survive. HBO Max has Friends, DC movies, and all the Sex & City. They can produce Gossip Girl and the City revival seasons. Netflix has a constantly evolving library of licensed properties so you can expect them to produce their own films and shows.

The bottom line

Although we might be tempted to «take a break» from Netflix every now and then, it is one of our favorite streaming services because it never lets us go. Netflix is aware that you will come back from whatever inconveniences you may be experiencing, such as a price increase or cancellation.

Netflix has so many compelling programs that I was able not to mention Tiger King and Squid Game until the end of my Netflix review. Many people simply consider it a necessary utility. Who are we to disagree?
