Jennifer Lopez is embracing the Y2K renaissance. Just a few days ago, the star teased a new album by making a throwback to 2002’s This is Me… Then, she recreated the iconic album cover before announcing its sequel, appropriately titled This is Me… Now. In a corset top with a black leather jacket, she transforms into J.Lo today. Lopez shared a new look in keeping with the ’00s throwbacks. It perfectly blends elements from her 2002 self and J.Lo that we love in 2022.
Lopez celebrates the 20th anniversary the album that gave rise to «Jenny from The Block» in an interview with Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s new editor. He also discusses the 2022 update which includes a song called «Dear Ben Pt.», a tribute to her husband. The artist shared a promo video of her. She looks like she stepped off the set in a 2002 J.Lo song video, but she also manages to look completely current. This is no surprise considering Lopez is the ever-exuberant.
The star wore her hair in a classic Lopez style: a long, sleek, caramel-blonde bun that was pulled close to her crown. It was then parted in the middle and sported many inches of length. The interview look, which includes a shiny copper and gold eye, bronze contoured skin, glossy peach lips and J.Lo’s signature J.Lo glow is a throwback and a tribute to her older self. An oversize pair of hoop earrings, a pale-yellow manicure, and a denim jacket with blue Mongolian lamb collar, layered over a blue-colored mesh shirt give the interview look ’00s vibes, but they are still modern.
We’ve kept a close eye on Lopez for more than 20 years and this promises to be a fun-yet-introspective way to reflect on her past while focusing on her future. We couldn’t be more in love with the blending of eras.
