Rihanna’s Box Braid Charms Make Me Run to the Beauty Supply Store

Rihanna, a fellow Bajanan, is almost like a cousin in my head. While I am a bit bummed that Rihanna is in New York City due to the cold, I still enjoy living through her on Barbados. The «Work» singer is enjoying the Caribbean sun and A$AP Rocky’s company, while sporting the most adorable vacation hairstyle: box braids with multicolored charms.

Rihanna is known for being a master of experimentation, thanks to her beauty and style choices. We’ve seen her in many different hairstyles, colors and accessories. This may be the first time that we see the «Pon de Replay” singer wearing braids adorned with a rainbow of beads. Every braid was waist-length and had multiple jelly-like beads in different shapes and colors woven in. One example of this was the braid in front that featured several transparent charms with a heart shape.

My style icon is radiantly glowing and I can tell that she is having the best time of her life right now. Rihanna style, she hasn’t disappointed in her looks this trip. A$AP Rocky was with her, so she showed off a lace-trimmed pink and red lingerie set, possibly from her own brand, Savage x Fenty, to the Imagine music festival. The bright garments were paired with a hot pink shoulder bag, which only complimented the charms of her box braids.

Her bright red nails matched perfectly with the lace trim of her outfit. We loved the classic shade, but also liked the shorter square-shaped tips. We have seen the star with a shorter mani before. She’s been sticking to the shorter style for most of the year. This is a marked change from her previous preference for longer manicures.

Box braids are the best Black girl hairstyle, as you don’t need to worry about styling your hair, applying a closure or lace frontal, moisturizing your hair, or planning what you’re doing with your hair every day. Riri shows that charms and beads aren’t only for children and can be added to braids all year.
