Interview with Lily-Rose Depp’s ‘Nepo Baby’ did not go well with model Vittoria Ceretti

In case you didn’t know, Lily Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis caused quite a stir when she dismissed nepotism’s effect on her modeling and acting careers.

The internet seems to be very interested in this kind of stuff. People will have preconceived notions about you and how you got there. I can confirm that this is true for you. Depp also stated that the term «nepo babies» is often used against women. The internet cares more about your family than the people casting you in roles. You might get your foot in front of the door, but that’s still not enough. It’s not an easy task.

Many have expressed this sentiment (*cough* Maya Hawke*cough*), but Vittoria Ceretti, an Italian model, was not having it. Ceretti, who has been on numerous international Vogue covers, works with brands such as Chanel, Versace and Prada—didn’t mention Lily-Rose Depp but she stated that she would like to see if a certain Nepo baby could have «lasted through five years of my career.»

«I just wanted to share a thought because I could. I bumped into an interview with a so-called nepo baby or whatever you want to call it,» she started her Instagram Story, which was later shared on Diet Prada’s gossip account. Ceretti acknowledged that the nepo baby was likely to be rejected, but the model said that their privileges and connections with family have probably helped to cushion any rejection.

«You can tell me about your story, but what about not being able pay for your return flight home to your family? Waiting hours to do a fitting/casting just to see a nepo baby walk past you from the warm seat of her/his Mercedes with her/his driver and her/his friend/assistant/agent taking care of HER/HIS MENTAL HEALTH,» she continued. «You don’t know how hard it is to get people to respect you. It takes YEARS. It’s yours for free on day one.»

The model said, «I have many nepobabies whom I respect, but it’s hard for me to listen to you compare yourself with me. I was not born on a comfortable, sexy pillow with views. It’s not your fault. But please appreciate the place you come from.»
