The latest episode of the feminist series, entitled ‘To Be’ or not ‘Be?’, examines the origin and consequences of the word, «B*tch» and how it is used to derogatorily to refer to ‘strong-minded women. This episode comes one week after Meghan Markle’s mom surprised her with an appearance on her podcast. It reveals the bizarre secret code that the pair share.
Meghan opened the discussion by introducing Mellody HOBSON, best known for her role as CEO of Ariel Investments (a Chicago-based money management company) and Chair of the Board of Starbucks. In February 2022, the 53-year old became the first Black woman to be elected Chairperson of an S&P 500 Company.
Mellody shared her story about her path to success. She told about a childhood story that showed her independence and ambition. She shared a sweet story with Meghan about how she organized a brace appointment at 12 years old and managed her own orthodontic treatment.
Mellody said that she was not surprised by the reaction of her mom. «It was like I had to figure everything out every time I wanted to do something.»
Meghan said, «I need to rethink how I parent,» before adding, «If that’s what yields me, I’ve got to really up my game with my kids being self-sufficient.»
She shares Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, with Prince Harry. In podcasts, she has discussed their home life many times. She even revealed that she prepares breakfast every morning for her young family.
On last week’s episode Meghan shared a sweet update on Lilibet, confirming that the royal toddler is learning to walk.
